A comment from the SNP Councillor for St Andrews Ann Verner on the walk through centre in St Andrews:
“As a local Councillor I welcome the news from the Scottish government today that the First Walk In Test Centre is to be in St Andrews. Well done to everyone involved in this momentous decision. As well as an ageing population of more than 16,000, year round tourists and from this week the addition of over 9,000 students, this is the ideal choice for what I believe to be the first of 11.”
The first minister also confirmed that St Andrews will house the first of 11 walk-in corona-virus testing centres during her daily Covid-19 briefing, the first of these will be located in the Victory Memorial Hall in St Andrews.
